Dolphin Personnel are looking for a Responsible Individual to join one of our clients. The Homes are 3 or 4 bed provisions between the ages of 7 and 17 years old, and are based in Staffordshire (2) and Twickenham (1) so you will have to travel infrequently between the 3 homes.
The client head office is in London.
The RI acts on behalf of the organisation to ensure the legal responsibilities are effectively discharged. The guide to the children’s homes regulations and quality standards’ states “one (the Registered Manager) manages the home and the other (Responsible Individual) supervises the management.
Your normal hours of work will be 40 hours a week, the hours will normally be worked between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You will act on behalf of the organisation to ensure that all legal responsibilities associated with the opening, registration and operation of the children’s homes are effectively discharged.
The supervision, support and holding to account of the Registered Managers whom you supervise.
To ensure that the children placed in the home are receiving a standard of care that’s compliant with the homes Statement of Purpose and Function and Children’s Guide.
To visit the children’s homes for which you are responsible on a regular basis, sufficient for you to establish a meaningful relationship and extensive knowledge of each child placed, their care plans or EHC plans.
To ensure that the children’s homes are compliant with all relevant legislation and regulations and to ensure that you remain up to date with changes in these.
The external monitoring of practice within the homes through your own supervision of the Registered Manager, scrutiny of Regulation 44 and 45 reports and any other reports concerning the home, including OFSTED inspections, compliance visits from local authorities.
To ensure that the homes for which you are responsible have “continuous improvement” and development plans and to ensure that these plans are being followed.
You will be required to attend both children’s meetings and staff meetings periodically as invited.
As part of your own CPD, you will attend some staff training, or other events to help you maintain knowledge of and evaluate the training being offered to the staff team or others.
Must have NVQ Level 5 in Children & Young People
Must have NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management
Substantial experience of managing care planning practice in Children’s Homes, identifying, assessing, planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating outcomes
Successful experience of core children’s home practice: managing child protection and safeguarding supporting resilience, managing risk, maximising care and welfare, health and safety issues etc.
Knowledge of current evidence-based theory and practice relating to looked after children’s residential services.
Comprehensive knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and the quality of standards.
Experience of working in in partnership with OFSTED to achieve better outcomes for children and a clear understanding of the inspectorate’s expectations of children’s homes providers.
