Children’s Home Registered Manager

Dolphin Personnel are currently recruiting for two Registered Managers to join one of our clients in the Derby area who are looking to open two new children’s residential homes.

The homes will be:

2 bed home after registration for children & young people between the ages of 8 and 18 with EBD.

3 Bed home after registration for children & Young people between the ages of 8 and 18 with EBD.

Salary

2 bed home – Starting on £34,000 then up to £38,000 after registration, probation period and once the home is in full capacity and with a “GOOD” Ofsted rating

3 bed home – Starting on £35,000 then up to £40,000 after registration, probation period and once the home is in full capacity and with a “GOOD” Ofsted rating

The Candidate

Must have previous experience within a Children’s Residential setting within a managerial role and have previously been OFSTED rated “GOOD” and above.

Must have NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People

Must have NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management

Job Duties

To manage and assure the smooth running of and co-ordinate the child care services of a designated residential home in conjunction with current legislation, regulations, standards and the company’s policies and procedures.

To be responsible for the management of professional staff and for the care they provide for the children & young people within the home.

Co-ordinate and manage the general duties of Residential and other staff within the home.  Delegate duties and tasks as appropriate to the current staffing, residents’ numbers and circumstances.

All administrative procedures, maintenance schedules, identified child care practices and other general procedures and reports to be completed in accordance with the current organisation’s instructions.

Ensure that Placement/Care Plans developed for young people in the home include goals, objectives and methods which will enable their physical, emotional and social well-being to be cared for and evidenced.

Work with all young people in the home monitoring Care/Placement Plans/Educational and Development plans, to ensure that their physical, emotional and social well-being is cared for and feedback information to relevant staff as appropriate.

Ensure that effective administration records including Reports, Reviews, Court Reports, Assessments, Records of Appointments, Daily Case Notes, Development charts etc. are kept within Company Policy and Procedure so that all documentation is always accurate, up to date and relevant for the purpose for which it will be required

Ensure compliance with all current statutory and company duties, procedures, guidelines and other instructions.

Provide appropriate staff development and training programmes which enables the staff team to undertake their duties in a professional manner in accordance with Company Policies; this includes organising and co-ordinating regular staff meetings.

Liaise with Social Work Departments in all matters appertaining to a young person’s placement.  Complete and return all reports, schedules and other designated information as directed.

Attend, where appropriate, Reviews, Planning Meetings etc.

Supervise and report on all expenditure associated with the home in accordance with company procedure.

To manage the House Fund and expenditure to agreed level.

Liaise with relevant Managers on staff welfare, appraisal, development, training, supervision and disciplinary procedures.  Ensure all urgent or serious matters are reported to Duty Manager and/or Senior Management as soon as is practical.

Manage the Homes Formal Supervision and Appraisal System to enable staff to operate more effectively, enhancing their knowledge, skills and performance, and allocate cases to them as appropriate, devising programmes to enhance the work of performers as necessary.

Ensure that the designated residential home has up-to-date House Rules and are reviewed regularly.

Attend Senior/Middle Management Meetings to contribute to Policy development furthering Company Policy and Planning Objectives

To manage the Home’s Reward Scheme and ensure that the young people have up-to-date contracts/agreements.

To co-ordinate and ensure that each young person has a Key Worker and is seen regularly.

To participate in identified training and regular supervision.

To maintain a safe environment, complying with Health and Safety and other legal requirements.

To act as a member of the staff team, supporting colleagues and being prepared to receive support as necessary.

To act flexibly within reasonable bounds, to ensure the necessary staff cover.

To sustain positive alliances with parents and significant others in the child’s life, including other professionals as set out in the Care Plan.

To contribute to and support an agreed Care Plan – to ensure child care is focused upon the needs of each child.

To be a member of an Interviewing Panel for prospective employee’s, as and when necessary.

To ensure that regular staff meetings take place at the designated Residential Home and also attend regular meetings with the Resource Managers.

Ensure that the physical standard of the property is maintained to a high standard, reporting any damage/replacements as soon as is practically possible.
